A Healthy Delicious Sattvic Bowl for all Doshas

A Healthy Delicious Sattvic Bowl for all Doshas

Ayurveda has a completely different approach to looking at food and its qualities.

Rather than see food in the Western way with its focus on proteins, carbohydrates, fats or calories. Ayurveda takes a holistic view and defines food in the way we taste it and according to our specific body type or Dosha.

To benefit from eating a sattvic diet we must be willing to reduce and avoid foods such as meat, fish, eggs, alcohol, caffeine, bleached flours, white sugar and other processed foods.

Tofu and Greens in a Bowl

This is a delicious yummy bowl of goodness, cook the tofu well with the sesame seeds and try not to burn. Tofu is sattvic if it's cooked and prepared well. The soy sauce is perfect for this.

  • Ginger & Tahini Sauce
  • half a cup of light tahini
  • 2 inches fresh ginger, skin removed and grated
  • 2 tablespoons of tamari/soy sauce
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
  • approx half a cup of water

Blend the sauce until smooth and creamy, this will be very gently heated or you can serve it cold.

Main Bowl

  • Firm Tofu cut into cubes
  • Sweet Potatoe
  • Olive oil
  • Handful of Kale
  • Cup of cooked Basmati Rice

Preheat oven to 375.

Directions

  • You will need about 10 cubes of firm tofu roasted with sesame seeds.
  • Marinade the tofu with a mixed teaspoon of soy sauce and maple syrup for an hour, then add to the baking dish with the sweet potatoes and cover the tofu with sesame seeds.
  • Wash and cut sweet potato into cubes, toss potatoes olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Place on a baking sheet with tofu cubes and cook until potatoes are tender and everything browning. About 30 mins or so. Use a none stick pan as tofu can easily stick to surfaces.
  • Take a handful of kale leaves chopped and steamed for a few minutes until tender.
  • When your tofu and sweet potato are cooked begin to layer your bowl.
  • Start with your cooked basmati rice.
  • Followed by steamed Kale.
  • Add potato and tofu squares and spoon any juices over the top.

Pour your sauce over the top of everything - warm or cool, not straight from the fridge.

Fridge cold food is not sattvic.
