Simple Teas for Beauty -  Peppermint

Peppermint tea is a popular tea and often drank for its calming effects on the digestion and for help with travel sickness. Did you also know that it is a good herb for helping with physical pain as it relaxes the muscles that tighten up because of the stres thats felt when we are in pain.

The scientific name of peppermint is Mentha piperita and it grows all over the world, with its chemical compounds including menthol and menthone is good as an antiseptic, antibacterial and expectorant.

But what about the skin?

Peppermint tea drank every day will help to clear sufferers of acne without any long-term effects like other medicines can have. It will help to clear teenage pimples and all you need to do is dring one or two cups a day

Dull Tired Vata Skin

Peppermint can help rejuvenate dull and tired skin so ideal for tied Vata types, the antioxidants in your peppermint tea help to clear blocked pores with the help of an Ayurveda Ubtan.

Oily Kapha Skin

Menthol lowers the secretion of oil in the skin so it's a good tea to have for those people particularly Kaph for oily skin.

Hot Pitta Skin

The cooling effects of peppermint are helpful with sunburns and hot skin rashes so ideal for Pitta skin.

The soothing effects of peppermint work to relax frown lines and wrinkles which is a boost for us all. 

Peppermint has so many great qualities that it would be difficult to say why you shouldn't use it as part of your beauty routine.

Directions for Tea

Best to use fresh peppermint if you can and all you need to do is to take a sprig and wash it. Put this into your teapot and pour boiling water onto it and leave for at least 5 to 10 mins for the infusion to act. Then drink, once its cooled you can add a little honey for sweetness if you like.
