Another Cabbage Powerhouse Bowl
This recipe is completely different from the previous cabbage dish but just as delicious and incredibly nutritious and great for detoxing, this one has a sweet and sour flavour to it.
Cabbage is best for Pitta and Kapha types, its energetics are dry and cold, with a sweet taste. Adding some oils and cooking through will help the Vata type to assimilate the energetics of cabbage.
It is rich in antioxidant vitamins and said to both inhibit and cleanse carcinogens. It is known to reduce the risk of lung, colon, breast, ovarian, stomach and bladder cancers. In addition, it is high in dietary fiber and low in calories.
It makes for a great weight loss aid, supported by minerals like iron and sulphur that support the cleansing of the digestive system.
Cabbage builds muscle, cleanses the blood and strengthens the eyes.
It boosts the immune system, lowers serum cholesterol levels, and is a good source of dietary fiber, manganese, vitamins A and B6, thiamin, riboflavin, calcium, potassium, tryptophan, protein, and magnesium.
The juice of fresh raw cabbage has been proven to heal stomach ulcers and treat fungal infections.
Ingredients
- 1 Small cabbage, sliced and diced small
- 1 Green pepper sliced and diced small
- 1 Carrot sliced and diced into matchsticks
- 2 Tablespoons of cider vinegar
- 2 Tablespoons of Bragg Amino
- 1 Tablespoon of coconut sugar
- 1 Teaspoon of rock salt
- 2 Tablespoons of ghee
- 1 Spring onion sliced and chopped
- Half a teaspoon of pepper
- Half a teaspoon of chili flakes
- 1 Teaspoon of grated ginger
- 1 Cup of veggie stock
- 2 Teaspoons of sesame oil
- Juice of half a lime for adding to finished bowls
- chopped coriander and chives for adding to finished bowls
Directions
Saute the carrots, onions, and cabbage in the ghee until a little brown. Then cover and steam in their own juices.
Mix all the other ingredients and whisk together and pour over the cooked veggies
Serve in bowls and sprinkle with chopped coriander leaves and chives and lime juice.
