Kapha Constipation & Remedies
Kapha Constipation & Remedies

Kapha constipation consists of large, infrequent bowel movements.
This is due to a lack of mobility in the colon, resulting in sluggish bowels.
When there is finally enough energy to stimulate peristalsis (the wave-like motion of your intestines which expels stool) the result is a large quantity.
This slow metabolic rate may be associated with depression and hypothyroid.
Kapha types tend to overeat and also eat too many sweet foods which create problems in the system

Sluggish Kapha type constipation requires additional roughage and fiber in the diet to keep the bowels clean and moving.
Warm, leafy, and juicy vegetables cooked with cumin, coriander, fennel, ginger, bay leaves, and black pepper provide bulk and fiber.
Soups, stews, and one-pot meals also help to lighten the load on the digestive tract.
Ayurveda suggests drinking a cup of hot water when you first wake up along with drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Having warm milk with a teaspoon of ghee or a couple of soaked figs or dates before bed is also a great way to find relief from constipation.
Lighter foods, salads and less stoggy will help to tone the Kapha system
Taking mild laxatives, like Triphala will gently scrape your colon clean and keep you regular.
Stimulant laxatives are the last resort, and not to be used without the guidance of your health practitioner.
