Dosha Breakfast Porridge Oats and Dried or Fresh Fruit*
Dosha Breakfast Porridge Oats and Dried or Fresh Fruit*
Make it your own, but stick to the guidelines.
- 1 cup of rolled oats - oats are sweet, warm and have a heaviness that is good for both Pitta and Vata but does not suit Kapha unless the oats are roasted and further dried and crispy.
- 1 cup of organic milk or another milk alternative if you want to include *fresh fruit, combining milk and fruit is not advocated in Ayurveda it is a poor food combination, and stresses the digestive system.
- OR 1 cup of water, you can add fruit if you use water, the oats make there own kind of oat milk which will not affect the combination as above.
- 1 half a cup of coconut flakes, these can be roasted if you prefer. Coconut is wonderful for the Pitta Constitution, it cools the system.
- Sweeten with a handful of chopped dates.
- Put everything into a pan and cook until the oats are some and the dates have mixed well. I prefer to add the coconut flakes at the end rather than cook in the porridge, I sprinkle it on top.
- Add some sweet berries if you like at the end.
